VETERAN INTERN, ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT

Researches information and analyzes statistical data to assist in housekeeping and record keeping functions; assists in the preparation and the presentation of oral and/or written reports; assists in the analysis, interpretation, and research of various human resources activities; assists in promoting and maintaining public relations for various programs, services, or activities; learns the structure and operation of County government; and attends training sessions and staff conferences.

VETERAN INTERN, TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Assists in the repair, maintenance, testing, and modification of wire and radio communication and digital systems and equipment; assists higher-level engineers in collecting and plotting data and maintaining maps; assists in performing general photographic work involving black or white photography and computer generated images; assists survey technicians in performing survey work; assists a higher-level graphic artist in creating and producing graphic design artwork; assists in the operation of sophisticated electronic video production equipment; and attends training sessions and staff conferences.

VETERAN INTERN, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT

Assists during all phases of system analysis of new application systems and/or existing systems; assist in interviewing end-users, performing workflow analysis, and defining project scope and objectives; assists in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and testing of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, and of networks and servers; assists in coding, testing, and debugging application programs to create new or modify existing business applications and interfaces; and attends training sessions and staff conferences.

VETERAN INTERN, HEAVY MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

Assists in the repair and maintenance of roads, flood control channels, sewers, easements, sidewalks, and other publicly maintained properties; assists skilled warehouse workers in handling materials and supplies, including loading and unloading materials; assists grounds maintenance personnel in the maintenance of County Parks and the grounds of County buildings, hospitals, and other facilities; assists food service workers in the provision of scheduled meal service at County institutions including custody facilities; drives automotive equipment to and from work sites and may be trained in the safe operation of and be assigned to operate power equipment; and drives County-owned vehicles to pick-up and deliver supplies.

VETERAN INTERN, CRAFTS SUPPORT

Assists a journey-level or other skilled craft worker to overhaul and repair gasoline and diesel engines, and manual and automatic transmissions; uses various craft tools, material, and supplies; maintains tools in serviceable condition; cleans work areas and operates simple machines and equipment; prepares simple reports or keep maintenance records and other routine non-complex duties in various craft trades and other occupation; drives automotive equipment to and from work sites.

VETERAN INTERN, OFFICE AND CLERICAL SUPPORT

Functions as a receptionist in a variety of settings and files, and sorts and arranges documents, correspondence, or other materials; assists the public by providing directions, instructions, and responses to basic inquiries in person or by telephone; uses keyboarding skills to prepare plain or corrected copy, draft letters, reports, vouchers, receipts, permits, lists, schedules, etc.; receives payment and fees, valuables, and issues receipts for selling merchandise at a cashier’s window; assists in compiling, arranging, and tabulating routine statistical-financial data; assists in the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services; and collects and delivers correspondence, records, packages, etc., on regular messenger rounds upon request.
